Opaker Ring aus hellbraunem Bernstein. Die massive Ringschiene verbreitert sich nach oben zur Schulter hin. Auf der Ringplatte das liebevoll und detailliert ausgeführte Bildnis eines liegenden Hundes, der sich mit der linken Hinterpfote am zurückgewendeten Kopf kratzt. Ausgesprochen charmante, naturalistische Miniaturschnitzerei eines römischen Meisters. In dieser Qualität ausgesprochen selten. Die Schnauze vom Gesicht des Hundes modern ergänzt. Höhe 4,2 cm, Innendurchmesser 1,5 cm.

A Roman amber ring with a depiction of a dog, 2nd - 3rd century
Opaque ring in light brown amber. The solid ring shank widening upwards to the shoulder. The bezel with a portrait of a recumbent dog, painstakingly drawn and highly detailed, turning his head back to scratch it with his left hind paw. Exceptionally delightful, naturalistic miniature carving by a Roman master craftsman. Very rarely found in this quality. The muzzle of the dog's face complemented. Height 4.2 cm, inside diameter 1.5 cm.
