First edition of the first complete Latin bible printed in England. This copy is one of five imprint variants reading “impensis W.N[orton]” on the main title-page, with only six copies of this “W.N.” variant known to the English Short Title Catalogue in institutional libraries. STC (2nd ed.), 2056.6.

Six parts in one, quarto (214 x 160mm). Title pages with engraved vignettes, numerous engraved head- and tailpieces and initials (occasional soiling and toning, some tears to edges mostly not affecting text). 19th-century speckled calf, gilt lettering to spine (rebacked and recornered, worn). Provenance: Thomas More, b. 1678/9 (inscription on first flyleaf and title page) – Edward Payne (inscription on second flyleaf).
