Description: Manual winding, breguet spring, Swiss lever escapement, Inkabloc shock protection, minute repeater on 2 tone springs.
At the time of the conception and manufacture of this watch, it was the smallest minute repeater in the world.
Blancpain is considered to be one of the manufacturers with the most complicated wristwatches. We are proud to be able to offer you a limited and very special minute repeater from this house.
Named after the cummunity of Villeret - the place where Blancpain was founded - the classic series is known for its uncluttered, simple designs - coupled with technical finesse in the smallest of spaces. This minute repeater was introduced in 1986. The 9-line hand-wound movement with minute repeater is enormously flat with a height of 3 millimetres and was the smallest and flattest minute repeater at that time. From the "Six Masterpieces" series of that time, the minute repeater in this size was a highlight. It represents the entire range of the high art of watchmaking that is still practised at Blancpain today. In a space of about one cubic centimetre, the watch holds more than 300 components, which together, however, weigh no more than three grams. More than 10,000 hours were invested in the development of this watch, and a production time of three months was needed for each piece at the time. The fine movement with the two hammers that acoustically strike the time can be observed through a glass back. Despite its small dimensions, this clock is in no way inferior to its larger siblings: here, too, there is, for example, the "tout-ou-rien" device or a possibility to regulate the speed of the repetition. It is something very special that we may present to you a watch from the very first series with the individual number 5.
