Édition originale du premier essai de l’auteur, préfacé par Barbey d’Aurevilly. L'exemplaire est enrichi d'une enveloppe autographe de Barbey d'Aurevilly.
In-8 (225 x 137 mm). Il n'a pas été tiré de grand papier. Reliure moderne : vélin semi-rigide, lettres en noir et rouge au dos. (Quelques rousseurs).

Le Pal fut un hebdomadaire redigé uniquement par Léon Bloy qui y attaquait tous ses ennemis sans aucune retenue. Après 4 parutions, et multiples menaces de procès en diffamation, l'éditeur préféra mettre un terme à la publication.
