Folio edition of this famous masterpiece by the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Boudard, born in Paris but active mainly in Parma, containing over six hundred allegorical engravings arranged alphabetically to create a visual dictionary of vices, virtues, emotions, professions and lots more.

3 volumes, folio (285 x 205mm). Half-titles, titles with engraved printer's device, engraved dedication in first volume, 630 allegorical engraved illustrations, text in French and Italian, with notice to subscribers (some foxing and occasional staining, half-title of vol. 3 repaired).
