A fresh copy of the folio edition of this famous masterpiece by the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Boudard, born in Paris but active mainly in Parma, containing over six hundred allegorical engravings arranged alphabetically to create a visual dictionary of vices, virtues, emotions, professions and lots more.

3 volumes, folio (309 x 208mm). Half-titles, titles with engraved printer's device, engraved dedication in first volume, 630 allegorical engraved illustrations, text in French and Italian, with notice to subscribers (few occasional light stains). Contemporary marbled paper boards backed in calf decorated in gilt and with titles on red labels, red speckled edges (extremities lightly rubbed). (3)
