BOY RIDING A BILLY GOAT. Southern German. Date: Around 1750. Maker/Designer: In the vicinity of Simon Troger. Technique: Carved ivory, wood, eyes made of glass. Description: A goat with curly fur and blue eyes standing on a hill-like oval base. A boy with a tricorn and knee breeches is riding on its back. His head is slightly tilted and his lips are slightly open as if he is singing. Probably he originally held a fiddle and a bow in his hands. Measurement: 21x18x8,5cm. Cites available. Provenance:Acquired at auction Weinmüller, Munich, A133, 10th-12th of March 1971.Literature:Möller, Karin Annette: Elfenbein, Kunsthandwerk des Barock, Bestandskatalog Staatliches Museum Schwerin, Schwerin 2000.
