Lot 67 | BRASS REDUCTION COMPASS IN CASE
The instrument consists of two movable arms, each with a hole in the centre to allow the screw to slide inside. Each arm terminating with a steel point. On one of the arms are two non-linear scales, the first Division. Planoru. 1-100, the other Division. Solidoru. 1-100. On the reverse side there are two other engraved non-linear scales Divisiones linee 1-10 and Divisiones circuli 4-20). Graduated on the sides :"diameter ½ Circumferentie with geometrical symbols. Further lettered graduations O/C, C/D, P/I, G/C/I and P/C to side. Each arm is pierced with two holes in which a needle gnomon composed of a steel rod and a spherical brass head can be set. The inside with later added spurisous signtaure 'Michael Coignet fecit'. In, closing, contemporary embossed leather case with red lined interior.
