Description: 3-hand chronograph with 30-minute counter at "3" o'clock, date display at "8:30" o'clock and off-centre seconds at "10" o'clock.
At the end of the 1960s, the race for the first automatic chronograph calibre came to a head. On 10th January 1969, Zenith presented its "El Primero", and just a few weeks later, on 3rd March 1969, Heuer-Leonidas, Dubois Dépraz, Hamilton-Buren and Breitling presented their jointly developed Chronomatic calibre family. The mechanism of the 1969 Breitling Chrono-Matic 2111-15 is based on the Buren calibre 1282 with micro-rotor, which was not designed for the addition of a chronograph mechanism. This resulted in the crown being placed on the left side of the case.
