A BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN - China, 17th c. - Standing in samabhanga on a lotus base, his six arms radiating around his body, the principle hands showing the anjalimudra, the secondary ones with broken attributes and the upper ones with probably the sun and moon emblems, wearing dhoti, scarf draped around his shoulders with its streamers encircling both arms and their finials touching the base, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, elongated earlobes with ear ornaments, the hair combed in a chignon and secured with a tiara. - From an old southern German private collection, supplemented by inheritance in the 1950s and acquisitions in the 1960s to the 1980s - Small repairs, wear, chipped

Im Samabhanga auf einem Lotussockel stehend, seine sechs Arme strahlenförmig um seinen Körper, die Haupthände zeigen das Anjalimudra, die Nebenhände mit gebrochenen Attributen und die oberen mit wahrscheinlich den Emblemen von Sonne und Mond, er trägt Dhoti, Schal um die Schultern drapiert, dessen Luftschlangen beide Arme umschließen und deren Enden die Basis berühren, mit Juwelen geschmückt, sein Gesicht zeigt einen heiteren Ausdruck mit niedergeschlagenen Augen unter gewölbten Augenbrauen, verlängerten Ohrläppchen mit Ohrschmuck, das Haar zu einem Dutt gekämmt und mit einem Diadem gesichert.
