Bronze of Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche). TIBET. The lotus-born sits on a lotus throne, he wears a monastic robe and a brocade cloak. He also wears princely jewelry studded with turquoises and rubies. In his right hand he holds a five-pointed golden vajra. In his left hand he holds a kapala (skull bowl) and also in his left arm a trident. Guru Padmasambhava is considered the founder of Buddhism in Tibet and the patron saint of the Himalayas. The face is cold-gilded, h: 23 cm.
