An Elamite bronze bowl with animal frieze, 2nd millennium B.C.
Heavy hemispherical bronze bowl on a narrow base ring decorated with a circumferential herringbone pattern. The exterior depicting two animal scenes with ibexes and big cats. The animals cast in relief. 2 cm wide ancient chip on the rim. Otherwise intact. Height 8.5 cm. Diameter 12 cm. Weight 1,070 g.


Provenance: From a private collection in Rhineland-Palatinate, inherited from the grandfather.

Schwere, halbkugelige Bronzeschale auf schmalem Fußring, der mit einem umlaufenden Fischgrätenmuster verziert ist. Auf der Außenwandung zwei Tierszenen mit Steinböcken und Raubkatzen. Die Tiere in erhabenem Relief. 2 cm breite, antike Fehlstelle am Rand. Sonst intakt. Höhe 8,5 cm. Durchmesser 12 cm. Gewicht 1.070 g.

Provenienz: Aus rheinland-pfälzischer Privatsammlung, übernommen vom Großvater.
