Langschmales, leicht gebogenes Beil mit fast gerader Schneide. Die Breitseiten zum Schaft hin zweifach halbkreisförmig gerippt. Längliches Schaftloch. Der hintere Teil schließt mit dem stilisierten Kopf eines Raubvogels, wohl eines Adlers, eindrucksvoll ab. Exzellente Erhaltung des als Rangabzeichen bzw. Zepter dienenden Geräts. Hervorragende dunkelgrüne Patina. Länge 19,5 cm.

Provenienz: Aus einer in Süddeutschland aufbewahrten Privatsammlung. Erworben in den 1970er bis 1980er Jahren im Kunsthandel und aus deutschen Privatsammlungen.

A luxury Scythian axe from the northern Black Sea region, 6th – 5th century B.C.
Slightly curved bronze axe with almost straight cutting edge. The broad sides wavily ribbed towards the shaft hole. The rear shaft with the stylized head of an eagle. Excellent condition. Beautiful dark green patina. Lenght 19.5 cm.

Provenance: From a private collection in southern Germany. Acquired on the art market and from German private collections in the 1970s and 1980s.

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
