Büste der Nofretete mit Pfeilersockel Gips, polychrom bemalt. Frühe Ausformung in einem Stück zusammen mit der rechteckigen Plinthe, um 1922-um1930. Verso eingeritzte Modell-Nr. "539" der Staatlichen Gipsformerei Berlin. Eigens angefertigter, hoher Pfeilersockel aus Nussbaum. Bei der vorliegenden Version hat Nofretete im Unterschied zum Original zwei Augen und eine Plinthe, während die anderen Beschädigungen des Originals (am linken Ohr und an der Krone) wiedergegeben wurden. Die Büste der Nofretete zählt nicht nur wegen ihrer zeitlosen Schönheit und ihrer feinen Gesichtszüge zu den bekanntesten Kunstschätzen des Alten Ägypten und gilt als Meisterwerk der Bildhauerkunst der Amarna-Zeit, angefertigt in der Regierungszeit des Königs (Pharaos) Echnaton zur Zeit der 18. Dynastie (Neues Reich) zwischen 1353 und 1336 v. Chr. Die Büste wurde am 6. Dezember 1912 bei Ausgrabungen unter Leitung von Ludwig Borchardt in Tell el-Amarna in der Werkstatt des Oberbildhauers Thutmosis entdeckt und 1913 nach Deutschland gebracht. 1920 ging die Büste der Nofretete durch eine Schenkung von James Simon an den preußischen Staat; 1924 erfolgte die erste öffentliche Präsentation der Büste im für die ägyptische Sammlung der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin errichteten Museum auf der Berliner Museumsinsel, seitdem ist das Kunstwerk bis heute eine Dauersensation und ein Star. Doch bereits vor 1924 gab es erste Gipsabgüsse: 1913/14 schuf die Bildhauerin Tina Haim-Wentscher (1887 - 1974) zwei bemalte Nachbildungen in Kunststein für James Simon und Kaiser Wilhelm II.; 1921 folgte dann das Urmodell der Bildhauerin mit zwei bemalten Augen für die Staatliche Gipsformerei in Berlin, bis Ende 1922 waren schon 75 Exemplare der Nachbildung ausgeführt.
