Dated eleventh month, dinghaiyear (1647)

Cao Youguang was a scholar and artist said to have been born in the Jiangsu or Anhui area. He passed the imperial examination and received a Jinshi degree in 1664. Cao was known for his elegant calligraphy, landscapes, paintings of flowers and insects during the Shunzhi (1643-1661) and Kangxi reigns (1662-1722).
