Eine illustre Runde älterer, jüdischer Gelehrter hat sich in einem spärlich beleucheten Interieur versammelt, um dem Rabbi beim Vorlesen aus den Schriften zu lauschen. Feinmalerisch ausgeführte Szene, die durch die subtile Charakterisierung der Protagonisten und eine effektvolle Lichtführung herausragt. Schleicher, dessen Oeuvre sonst vornehmlich Genreszenen aus dem ländlichen Volksleben, Bauern- und Mönchsbildnisse umfasst, hat dieses für ihn charakteristische Motiv vielfach variiert. Der Maler war vermutlich ein Schüler von Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller und ab 1859 bis nach 1871 in Wien ansässig, wo er u. a. im Österreichischen Kunstverein ausstellte. Öl/Holztafel. R. u. sign.; Verso Stempel von Arnold Landsberger Wien sowie mit Bleistift bez. "Beim Rab(b)i". 25,5 cm x 31 cm. Rahmen.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments.
