USTC 158314. - Lyoner Ausgabe von 1570 dieser erstmals 1546 veröffentlichten und vielfach neuaufgelegten Geschichte der Päpste und Konzilien der katholischen Kirche. Der Verfasser Bartolomé de Carranza (1503-1576) war Erzbischof von Toledo, Professor der Theologie, Teilehmer am Konzil von Trient und ein enger Vertrauter Kaiser Karls V. Aufgrund nicht nachgewiesener Vorwürfe der Häresie wurde er zum Opfer der spanischen Inquisition. Nach jahrzehntelanger Kerkerhaft verstarb er 1576 nur 2 Wochen nach seinem Freispruch (vgl. Jöcher I, 1696f.). - Spiegel, Rücken und Vorsatzblätter etw. wurmstichig, untere Schließe mit Abrieb. Papier moderat gebräunt. Mit Stempel und Rückensignatur einer aufgelösten Klosterbibliothek.
