CATHERINE II DE RUSSIE (1729-1796). Lettre autographe signée ("Caterine"), en français, au général feld-maréchal Burckhardt Christoph von Münnich (1683-1767). S.l., 1er novembre 1762.

1 page in-4 (238 x 190 mm), sur un bifeuillet, à l'encre noire. En marge inférieure gauche, mention d'une autre main, en allemand : "Katherina II Kaiserin v. Russland an den Feld Marschall Grafen v. Münnich".

Cette lettre, écrite par l'impératrice en réponse à deux missives envoyées par von Münnich, évoque les travaux menés au Port Baltique (ancien port Roger Wick, à Tallinn en actuelle Estonie). Catherine II demande des précisions sur leur avancée : "j'attends toujours avec impatience le plan général de cet ouvrage, afin de pouvoir m'arranger en conséquence". Elle met à sa disposition sa "maison de Catrinen Thal, près de Reval".
L'impératrice se rendit à Port Baltique en 1764, pour constater de visu la bonne marche des travaux.
