Exemplaire en maroquin rouge de l'époque, aux armes du Tsar Paul Ier (1754-1801) et de son épouse l'impératrice Marie Féodorovna (1759-1828), de cette superbe édition, publiée sous les auspices de la Real Academia Española. Le texte est établi d'après les éditions du début du XVIIe siècle. Des caractères sont fondus spécialement pour cette édition ; le meilleur papier et les meilleurs dessinateurs et graveurs d'Espagne sont choisis pour y prendre part. Pour le meilleur rendu possible, sans cuvette, l'éditeur fait imprimer les planches sur des feuillets de format plus important que l'ouvrage - lorsque les feuillets sont rognés, la cuvette disparaît. Cohen-de Ricci, col. 218-219 ; Brunet, I, col. 1749 "chef d'oeuvre typographique....les gravures sont presque toujours sans la lettre, et l'on prétend même que les épreuves où la lettre se trouve sont les premières tirées" ;Graesse, II, p. 106 : "chef d'oeuvre typographique, illustré par des gravures de la main des meilleurs artistes espagnols".
