First complete Italian translation of the two parts of the famous Spanish novel. The first part of the work was first published by Baba in 1622 but the complete edition was issued only three years later. The translation was curated by Lorenzo Franciosini (1600-1645) an important linguist and author of an Italian-Spanish grammar and dictionary that was widely used until the early 1900s. Scarce on the market, only two copies have been recorded in auction, Cowans in 2019 and Sotheby's in 1963 (RBH).

2 volumes, 8vo (157 x 105mm). Printer's device on title (some stains and sporadic spotting, last sheet of the second volume with three small holes with loss of few letters). Contemporary vellum binding (the volumes differ slightly in size but the set does not appear to be a recently composed copy). Provenance: Michelang. Butius.
