Exemplaire impeccable, comprenant 15 eaux-fortes originales de Marc Chagall. Meyer-Cramer, Chagall, n° 103.
Le cadre de ce court récit - les événements se déroulent en vingt-quatre heures, et tiennent sur moins d'une cinquantaine de pages - est la guerre d'Espagne, en mars 1938.
La préface de Malraux revêt la forme d'une lettre qu'il adresse à Marc Chagall - il y confie d'abord sa suprise que Chagall ait fait le choix d'une illustration "littérale" du récit. Ce choix ainsi que le fait que Chagall privilégie des gravures en noir, associés au cadre du récit, aux thématiques abordées, séduit Malraux, "car penser à l'aquatinte pour l'Espagne, c'est aussi penser à Goya" (p. VI).

In-folio (440 x 330 mm), en feuilles, sous couverture rempliée. Tirage limité à 225 exemplaires sur vélin de Rives, tous signés par Malraux et Chagall, celui-ci le n°165, en outre daté « 30 juin 1976 » par Malraux. 15 eaux-fortes et aquatintes originales en noir de Marc Chagall, dont 2 à double page et 13 à pleine page.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
