From :

Very probably delivered to the furniture of the Crown for the castle

Fontainebleau.

A chair identical in all respects to ours has been sold at Sotheby's Monaco

on 30 November 1986, lot 943 (Illustrated in L. Condamy, Jean-Baptiste Boulard,

carpenter of the king, Dijon, 2008, p. 276) marked with the stencil of the number

603 preceded by the monogram F crowned, to Fontainebleau, which corresponds to

the new numbering system established by Thierry de Ville d'avray, intendant-general

Furniture of the Crown, and only used in the inventory of September 1787.

(Archives Nationales, O1, 3398, " Inventory of furniture of the castle of Fontainebleau

done in the month of September, 1787") evidencing its location in the castle

of Fontainebleau, this allows us to propose to our office the same

royal provenance with a degree of certainty.

Year oak armchair, stamped Jean-Baptiste Boulard, H.: 38 in., W.:24 3/4 in
