DICKENS, Charles (1812-1870), editor. Household Words. London: 1850-1858. AND: All the Year Round. London: 1859-1867.

A complete first edition set of all of the Christmas numbers from these essential periodicals. Especially after the great success of the Christmas Books, Dickens was savvy in promoting yuletide stories in the relevant issues of his weekly literary magazines. These include noted stories such as "A Message from the Sea," "Tom Tiddler's Ground," "Somebody's Luggage," "Mrs Lirriper's Lodgings," "Mrs. Lirriper's Legacy," "Mugby Junction," "No Thoroughfare," etc.

Octavo (235 x 155mm). Printed in two columns. Original self-wrappers except final four issues which are in original blue printed wrappers (some mild toning or dust-soiling, inkstain to front of 1854 issue, backstrip of 1862 issue cocked). Custom box. Provenance: a significant anonymous Dickens collector ("Property of a Lady" section, Christie's East, 21 February 1996, lot 73).
