Charles Wilda (1854 - 1907) war schon zu Lebzeiten ein anerkannter Vertreter des Wiener Orientalismus mit zahlreichen Auftritten bei wichtigen zeitgenössischen Ausstellungen. In den 90er Jahren wurde er mit dem Kaiserpreis (1895) sowie der goldenen Staatsmedaille (1898) ausgezeichnet.

Oil on canvas. Depiction of a seated beauty in an oriental ambiance. One leg slightly bent, she holds an almost burned-out cigarette in one hand and a glass of red wine in the other raised above her head. The questioning look in her large eyes is directed towards the viewer. Monogram and date "CW 88" on the lower right. In a moulded wooden frame with oriental stucco ornaments. Craquelures. Even in his lifetime, Charles Wilda (1854 – 1907) was an acknowledged representative of Viennese Orientalism whose paintings were on display in major contemporary exhibitions. During the 1890s, he received the Emperor’s Award in 1895 and the State Medal in Gold (1898).

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
