F.-J. de Chastellux (1734-1788) entwickelt die Vision einer auf Landwirtschaft basierenden Idealgesellschaft, in welcher der Souverän vor allem die Zufriedenheit der Bevölkerung fördert. - "Cet ouvrage, s'il est démodé dans la forme, est pourtant plein d'idées qui ne discréditeraient pas un livre de notre temps. En particulier, il a traité de la question de la population un quart de siècle plus tôt que Malthus" (Palgrave). - Chastellux war mit Voltaire und den Enzyklopädisten befreundet. Während des Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskriegs kämpfte er in der Armee von Rochambeau. Dabei lernte er auch George Washington persönlich kennen und über diesen später auch Thomas Jefferson. 1781 wurde er sowohl in die American Academy of Arts and Sciences als auch in die American Philosophical Society gewählt. - Vorderes Gelenk etwas berieben, Kapital etwas bestoßen, mod. Exlibris (Jacques Lager, 1877-1952), St. a. T., sehr gutes dekorativ gebundenes Exemplar.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments.
