1942. Öl/Lw. 60 x 90 cm. R. u. sign. und dat. Claus Bergen 1942. - Provenienz: Das Gemälde wurde von der Mutter des Einlieferers als Geschenk an den Großvater beim Künstler persönlich in Auftrag gegeben, seitdem durch Erbgang - Deutscher Marinemaler. B. studierte an der Münchner Akademie bei C. von Marr. Er unternahm Studienreisen nach England und in die USA, so hielt er sich bis zum Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkrieges mehrfach im Fischerdorf Polperro in Cornwall auf. Als einziger deutscher Marinemaler konnte er im Ersten Weltkrieg auf einem U-Boot mitfahren. Gute Beziehungen zu den Spitzen von Marine und Luftwaffe sicherten ihm immer wieder hervorragende Aufträge, er wirkte aber auch an der Ausschmückung des Deutschen Museums in München mit. Eine Retrospektive im Deutschen Schiffahrtsmuseum Bremerhaven würdigte 1982 seine Lebensleistung. Mus.: München, Wuppertal, Nürnberg, London. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
