Copy in excellent condition of this study and facsimile of the Aztec code written in Nahuatl language with the Spanish translation commissioned by the Viceroy Don Antonio de Mendoza in 1541. The contains a history of the Aztec Empire from 1325 to 1521 and an explanation of the tax system which regulated the state.

3 volumes, folio (340 x 235mm). The text volumes with plates, the second volume with the appendix and notes, the third volume containing the colour facsimile reproduction with the pages protected by tissue paper. Editorial vellum with gilt title on front plate and spine, green silk bookmarks (slightly bowed). Provenance: Giuseppe Orlando (ownership inscription). (3)
