First edition of the author’s landmark first book, the inspiration for Hitchcock’s classic 1951 film. Octavo. Original blue boards, titles to upper cover and spine in gilt (spine rolled, spotting to covers and gilt lettering faded); original dust-jacket with publisher’s ads printed on verso (nicked and lightly worn, backstrip faded, spotting to verso).

First edition, presentation copy. Octavo. Original yellow cloth, spine lettered in red (extremities very lightly rubbed); original dust-jacket designed by Polly Cameron (lightly rubbed, short closed tear at head of spine, lightly nicked). Provenance: Mary and John Shearer (authorial presentation inscription to front free endpaper, dated July 1964).

First edition of a modern gangster classic. Octavo. Original grey boards, spine and upper cover lettered in red, top edge stained red (minor wear to spine with discoloration to edges of board, stain from top edge just creeping into some upper margins); original pictorial dust-jacket (spine faded, minor nicks or chips).

First edition of a thrilling mystery surrounding the death of a sex worker in London. Octavo. (A few minor spots or marks.) Original orange cloth, titles to upper cover and spine in black, publisher’s device to lower cover; original dust-jacket priced 7/6, printed publisher’s ads to verso (some soiling, a few small chips and nicks, tape residue to verso).
