Lot 89 | CUPRIAN ARAGONITE
Estimate value
£ 3 000 – 5 000
From the Wenshan Mine, in the Giant Antimony Belt of southwest China, this subtle blue-green cupric aragonite is a fine, sizeable example of the sea coral or cloud-like aragonites found in Wenshan. The large druzy surface crystals bubble over one another on a plate of earlier aragonite. This smooth botryoidal surface is still visible around the margins of the specimen, along with several earlier fan-shaped colorless crystals at the bottom of the piece, all providing a lovely contrast to the beautiful sea-foam masses they frame.
8 x 6 x 3in. (20 x 15 x 8cm.)
