One of the 35 ad personam copies printed for Carlo Sironi on hand-made paper and complete with the original gouache that reproduces the third lithograph contained in the book captioned: "Great is the virtue that resides in herbs, plants, stones and their most secret faculties" (Act II, scene III). The episode, full of pathos and masterfully executed by the surrealist artist, represents the moment in which Friar Lorenzo hands Juliet the vial that would make her fall in apparent death and then come back to life.
4to (405 x 332mm). 10 offset lithographic plates by Salvador Dalì protected by tissue paper. Original brown morocco titled in gilt on front cover and spine, gilt inlays, uncut and preserved in a silk decorated case. In mint condition.
Original gouache on paper signed "Dalì 67" in mixed technique of pencil, tempera and watercolour (380 x 280mm) contained in the original black leather portfolio titled in gold; very pronounced craquelure (with some small losses associated to the yellow color in the central area).
Additional suite of 10 lithographs contained in the original brown morocco and silk folder, each signed by Salvador Dalì.
The lot also contains the certificate in which the publisher states that the copy is printed for Carlo Sironi, that it is part of the series of 999 copies and that the signature on the title and on the reproductions contained in the folder are original. An extra certificate from "Edition d'Art Les Heures Claires" applied with adhesive tape to the verso of the gouache, with embossed stamp, other stamps in blue and black and a signature. Finally there are also two letters signed by Salvador Dalì on Hotel Meurice headed paper, dated Paris, 1975, which certify that the gouache is original and that it is owned by "Monsieur Carlo Sironi di Omate".
Everything is preserved in the original Rizzoli polystyrene box within the original cardboard (cardboard worn).
