L'ouvrage le plus célèbre sur l'Inde, illustré de 144 aquatintes "Elephant folio", finement coloriées à l'époque.
Exemplaire du baron James de Rothschild, en premier tirage, dans une reliure de la première moitié du XIXe siècle aux armes de la famille Rothschild.
Après un périple de 9 ans en Inde, Thomas et William Daniell publient les Oriental Scenery qui auront une influence durable sur l’intérêt des Britanniques et des Européens pour l’Inde et plus factuellement sur les arts décoratifs anglais du début 19e siècle.
Publié en livraisons, entre 1795 et 1808, l’ouvrage se compose de 6 suites comprenant des « View of Hindoostan », « Antiquities of India », et « Hindoo Excavations in the Mountain of Ellora ».

3 vol. « Elephant folio » (740 x 525 mm). 6 pages de titre dont une corrigée à la plume à l’époque. 144 gravures à l’aquatinte sur papier fort, très finement coloriées à la main à l’époque, d’après les dessins de Thomas and William Daniell. Les planches des séries « Hinddo Excavations » sont faites d’après James Wales. 2 panoramas formés de 3 et 2 planches. Sans les serpentes. Reliure de l’époque : demi-maroquin vert à coins, armes de la famille Rothschild au centre des plats, dos à nerfs ornés. Les suites sont réparties dans les volumes comme ci-après selon la numérotation de Abbey : vol. I : « parts 1 and 2 » ; vol. II : « parts 4 and 6 ; vol. III : « parts 3 and 5 ». Légères mouillures en marges, sans atteinte aux illustrations, des rousseurs sur 3 planches, reliures légèrement frottées et restaurations anciennes au papier dominoté des plats. Exemplaire sans les volumes de texte au format in-octavo ni les 8 plans.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
