Rare suite complète de 39 lithographies originales d’Honoré Daumier. La plupart d’entre elles ont été publiées dans Le Charivari, entre le 21 mars 1845 et le 31 octobre 1848. Arsène Alexandre décrit cette série en ces termes : « Jamais, depuis Rabelais, la gent chicanière n’a été plus serrée de près, plus fouillée, plus implacablement disséquée dans ses trucs, dans ses manies, dans ses audaces, dans ses roueries. Ces robes noires, ces faces rasées, le froid humide de la salle des Pas-Perdus, l’atmosphère surchauffée des salles d’audience, tout cela a positivement grisé Daumier. C’est avec une fougue rancunière qu’il a croqué ces innombrables types d’avocats emballés, de juges assoupis, moqueurs ou inexorables, de plaideurs exaspérés. »
Le présent ensemble provient de la bibliothèque d’Heinrich Neuerburg (1883-1956), de Cologne, industriel et collectionneur d’estampes des XIXe et XXe siècles, notamment d’artistes français comme Manet, Bonnard et Denis, qui aurait commencé sa collection de gravures en 1945, sur le conseil d'Hermann Schnitzler, du musée Schnütgen.

39 lithographies originales d’Honoré Daumier (environ 335 x 250 mm), chaque planche sous passepartout, montée sur un grand feuillet épais par des morceaux d’adhésif en partie supérieure verso (2 planches légèrement brunies).
Les planches sont conservées dans trois grands cartons à dessin à rabats, recouverts de toile verte (quelques taches).
Provenance : Heinrich Neuerburg (1883-1956 ; timbre à sec sur les planches [LUGT L.1344a] – acquis par Sam Josefowitz lors de sa vente (Christie's New York, 1er novembre 1988, lot n°26) – puis par descendance aux propriétaires actuels

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
