S. wuchs in München auf. 1923 zog er nach Paris und studierte an der dortigen Akademie. Zurück in München nahm er eine Stelle als Bühnenbildner am Schauspielhaus an. 1933 emigrierte er ins spätere Israel, wo er seine Karriere als Bühnenbildner und Illustrator fortsetzte.
