The complete collection of De Ligne's Mélanges. The Belgian soldier, writer, playwright and nobleman was also the author of numerous literary works of which this remains the best known. Here he collected information on the most famous personalities of the century, documenting the meetings he had with famous personalities such as Voltaire, Rousseau, Catherine II of Russia, Frederick the Great, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, la du Barry, Goethe, Casanova, Madame de Staël, Talleyrand and many other characters who wrote the political, cultural and costume history of the 18th-century.

34 tomes in 17 volumes, 8vo (150 x 90mm). Engraved arms on title, 12 engraved plates and 4 tables of which many folded (lacking plate VI "Ordre de Bataille" in second volume, light dampstaining to fifteenth volume, occasional foxing and browning).
