Diefenbach, Karl Wilhelm - Hadamar 1851 - Capri 1913 - "Frage an die Sterne". A young girl on a ledge, surrounded by fog patches, looking up at the sky. Oil/canvas, signed and dated 1898 lower right. - German private collection. "Auf höchster Berges-Zinne ein nacktes Menschen-Kind. Dunkle Nebel wallen aus der Tiefe; doch über ihm im unendlichen Raume leuchten Weltenkörper, unermesslich an Zahl und Größe (...). Und der kindliche Geist hebt zu Sternen empor seine Frage: Bergt ihr Wesen wie ich? Und stehen sie "Gott" näher als die verirrten Menschen der Erde?" With this description in the catalogue of the exhibition in Trieste in 1899, Diefenbach provided a starting point for the perception of his painting, which goes far beyond the first impression of a female nude. However, his attempt to stimulate the viewer to engage intellectually with the content of the painting failed: the painting has been perceived primarily from an erotic point of view. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
