Lot 155Dillis, Johann Georg von. Isarlandschaft with the castle of Harlaching
Isarlandschaft with the castle of Harlaching In the foreground a shepherd with cattle. Verso stamp "Dillisnachlaß / collection Einsele" with numbering 172. Pen in brown over pencil on laid paper. 16.8 x 20.7 cm. Browned. Light the edge. Frame. Wz "M. Brand Miller". Michael brand-Miller, from 1810-1863, operating since 1810, the Harlachinger paper mill, which had been built by the former owner of the Harlachinger castle in 1701. In 1828, he bought the mill, today, "Kraemer'sche kunstmühle". The watermark suggests that the present drawing is one of those works of Johann Georg von Dillis', which emerged after the fire of 1796. Reason for this is that Dillis is the castle of Harlaching chose, even after its destruction, often as a Subject until far into the 19th century. Century traditional legend has it that Claude Lorrain had built the castle, used it, and worked would. Dills distinguished the famous French artist Claude Lorrain, which antique-clad window-dressing on the present drawing is reminiscent of the Arcadian landscapes.
