A rare group of 15 photographs of Mtskheta, Ananuri and Kutaisi, including some of the nearby Gelati Monastery. The views show Kasbek ('Mountain of Legends'), Mtskheta cathedral, and monasteries in Ananuri and Kutaisi. Larger-format photographs show the spectacular frescoes and mosaics of Gelati Monastery. The collection is accompanied by a heavily annotated postcard in German of the Georgian Military Road postmarked December 1939, an unmounted photograph by Ermakov of a camel with its handler, another postcard of a Russian railway station and two large-format photographs of archaeological sites in Greece.
15 photographs with negative number and title in Russian in the lower margin, all but one mounted on card, 14 mounted back-to-back on 7 card mounts, many with captions in English in contemporary ink manuscript, images mostly 210 x 264mm on card 245 x 331mm, with the 3 larger images of the Gelati Monastery approx. 321 x 244mm on 360 x 270mm; together with 3 other photographs and 2 postcards.
