Octagonal side-by-side barrels in 13 mm calibre. The metal parts with original patinated finish. Usual proof marks at the breeches. Silver front sight. Gold-lined flash holes. A simple geometrical band at the base of the hook-on barrels. The undersides of the barrels with two wedge-shaped eyelets, the wedges slitted and secured with a pin. Iron tang with attractive engraving. The smooth iron locks with roller-mounted frizzens, each signed "W.Paris". The right cock broken at the base of the swan neck, visible traces of an old repair attempt. The fragment is enclosed, the pistol can therefore be restored without much effort and cost. Double trigger. Heavy silver mounts with various proof marks and fine floral engravings typical of the time.
Silver escutcheon with smooth surface. Walnut full stock with simple, but precisely crafted carvings of high quality. The finely grained wood featuring small age-related dents. The ramrod most likely original, dating from the period, with a replaced brass tip and bullet extractor on the opposite end, the screw top missing. Mechanically intact, length approximately 33 cm.
William Paris is mentioned in Stöckl, vol. 2, p. 914, as active in Derby around 1792.
