Feininger, Lyonel (1871 New York - 1956 ebenda ). Bunte Farbstiftzeichnung über Bleistift auf dünnem Karton 11,6 x 18,7 cm Links unten signiert und mit Widmung an S.l. Peter Röhl. Rahmen. Echtheitsbestätigung: Achim Moeller hat die Authentizität des Werks bestätigt. Das Werk ist unter der Nummer 1590-04-09-19 im Archiv registriert. Wird in das Werkverzeichnis der Aquarelle und Zeichnungen aufgenommen. Provenienz: Karl Peter Röhl / Werner Krüger, Köln, Mallorca / Privatsammlung Schweiz Ausstellung: Düsseldorf 1915 in der Galerie Völmel, Im Kleinen Grosses Entfalten: Meistergraphik 1895 - 1949, S. 16/17, dort mit ''Dorfansicht'' betitelt. Eine bunte Farbstiftzeichnung eines gewöhnlichen Dorfhauses - von der Signatur Lyonel Feiningers einmal abgesehen, fällt es beim Betrachten der Arbeit schwer, eine stringente Beziehung zum restlichen Schaffenswerk des Künstlers herzustellen. So ist Feininger, der 1871 in New York geboren wurde, und nach langer Tätigkeit als Karikaturist für zahlreiche Internationale Publikationen erst relativ spät Zugang zur Malerei fand, doch eigentlich für seine prismatisch, beinahe kristallin anmutenden Bildstrukturen bekannt. Auf die Emigration aus den Vereinigten Staaten folgte zu Beginn des neuen Jahrhunderts ein vorübergehender Beitritt der Berliner Secession sowie Kontakt zu Vertretern des Blauen Reiters. Diese und weitere stimulierende Begegnungen waren mitverantwortlich für Feiningers sukzessive Entwicklung hin zu dem von ihm so eindrucksstark verkörperten ''Prinzip der Monumentalität und Konzentration''. Die vorliegende Arbeit des späteren Leiters der graphischen Werkstatt am Bauhaus in Weimar ist um 1901 entstanden, einer Zeit, zu der sich der damals auf Karikaturen und Grafik fokussierte Künstler häufig an der Nord- und Ostdeutschen Küste aufhielt. Interessant ist die Zeichnung allerdings nicht allein ob ihrer stilistisch-biographischen Isolation vom restlichen Schaffenswerk, sondern auch auf Grund einer persönlichen Widmung für S.I. Peter Röhl. Briefe von Feininger an den jüngeren Malerkollegen und dessen Frau Alexandra dienen auf dem Kunstmarkt noch heute als Zeugnis dieser Künstlerfreundschaft.
