Dr. Otto Schwend: ein Fotoalbum, Maße ca. 20 x 26 cm, vorne mit Wappen, hinten ganzseitig verziert mit Verschluss, mit ca. 80 Fotos, etwa 1920 - 1922. Dabei Fotos von Familie Schwend, viele von ihm und seiner Verlobten, einige Kinderfotos aus der Verwandtschaft, überwiegend alte Fotos, einige neuere Abzüge auf Karton. Das Album mit Altersspuren, Einband hat sich gelöst, Schäden. Dazu ca. 50 Fotos und Postkarten, unterschiedliche Größen, viele aus Siam, China, Aufnahmen von Dr. Schwend, seiner Tochter, Fotos von Landschaften bzw. Städten, auch einige der ärztlichen Praxis von Gertrud Schwend in China. Sieben Umschläge mit vielen Foto-Negativen, nicht gesichtet. Ein Konvolut an Briefen an/von Dr. Schwend, seiner Frau und auch seiner Tochter Elke, dabei auch von seinem Vater (1915-19), zahlreiche Umschläge und diverse Dokumente, eine Postkarte 1938 "Und Ihr habt doch gesiegt" mit Stempel Münchens. Ein Umschlag mit Absender "Feldhilfsarzt Otto Schwend, Württ. Geb-Kanonen-Batt. 6" an "Frau Marie Schwend, Gailsdorf". Dazu ein Kassenheft, Einnahmen/Ausgaben,1935, das Sparkasse-Gailsdorf-Sparbuch von Otto Schwend (1916-25), ein Schulheft von Gertrud und einiges anderes. Ein Foto als Arzt/Soldat in Finnland 1943. Insgesamt mit Altersspuren. Sehr seltener Papiernachlass von Schwend.
Dr. Otto Schwend (1892-1951) wurde nach seinem Medizinstudium als Feldhilfsarzt 1915 zum Kriegsdienst eingezogen. Für sein ehrenwertes Verhalten erhielt er 1918 dafür die Württembergische Goldene Militär-Verdienstmedaille. Nach dem ersten Weltkrieg Krieg ist Schwend zunächst als Assistenzarzt in Ulm und Tübingen tätig und geht dann 1920 nach Wyck auf Föhr und arbeitet als Assistent des berühmten Dr. Haeberlin im Nordsee-Hospital. Am 21. Januar 1922 heiratet er seine Verlobte, die Medizinerin Dr. Gertrud Blochmann. Im November desselben Jahres kommt ihre Tochter Elke zur Welt. 1923 wird Schwend als zweiter Arzt an das chinesische Missionshospital in Tungkun berufen. 1926 kommt die zweite Tochter Ute auf die Welt und Dr. Schwend nimmt ein Angebot aus Bangkok zur Eröffnung einer Praxis an. 1937 nimmt ihn die British Legion als Mitglied auf.
Dass in diesen politischen Zeit ein Deutscher Mitglied in einem britischen Club werden konnte, hatte nicht nur mit seiner hervorragenden Reputation in Bangkok zu tun, sondern geht auch auf sein ärztliches Engagement im 1. Weltkrieg zurück. 1938 musste die Familie, bedingt durch die politischen Wirren der Zeit, zurück nach Deutschland gehen. Ein neues Zuhause fand sie in Traunstein. Als Militärarzt wurde Dr. Schwend 1942 in Russland schwer verletzt und kam zurück nach Deutschland. In den letzten Kriegsjahren leitete er mehrere Lazarette am Chiemsee. Nach dem Krieg eröffnete er in Traunstein eine Praxis und war dort bis zu seinem frühen Tod im Jahre 1951 als Arzt tätig.
