Lot 556 | Three suspension rollers with calligraphy and a Chinese passport dated 1894
CHINA, Qing dynasty
V1) Chinese Imperial Pass with five dragons in Red. Issued by the office of the Qing government for international Affairs for the "German railway instructor Qu Situ" in the tenth month of the year twenty of the Era of Guangxu (1894). Pen-and-ink and red ink on paper, 55 x 64 cm. 2) hanging scroll with a spell in italics on yellow glossy paper with a decorative border with bats and clouds, 195,5 x 36 cm. With Dedication: "Dedicated To Mr Qu Situ". Part of a saying of the pair, the second roller is missing. 3) Two pendant rolls with Chinese calligraphy in regular script, silk woven. The black base is woven, the bright characters, the 163 x 34.8 cm. Part of a larger composition, the roles, the beginning and the end of the text are missing.
