Lot 1641 | Three plates, Cypriot-geometric I, 1050 - 950 BC
A large and two small wheel-turned dish with two small handles and decor of concentric circles. The flat edge of the bead at the top are also stained dark. On the bottom of the geometric decoration of concentric circles in dark brown and Ochre and shaded triangles and a cross. The large plates called "3861" (female) and "C 643" (bottom); the two smaller plates C. C. 42, "or" C. C. 43 referred to. A small plate broken and glued, the other is a Handle missing. Otherwise, intact. Diameter of 21.8 cm and 14 cm. The plates were hung on the wall, so the bottom has more decor than the sparsely decorated inside. Provenance: From a South German private collection, acquired in the 1970s on the island of Crete. The handles are still the old customs lead seals. Condition: II -
