Zimmer, 194-200 : le décrit comme une seconde édition, avec les mêmes dates que l'originale aux titres, intégrant, dans les chapitres correspondants, les traductions françaises ; Nissen, IVB, 286-289 ; Fine Bird Books, p. 93 ("Though, in a sense, two books, these are now considered as one and either must rank as imperfect without the other...At its date of issue, [it] was one of the most important of all Bird Books, both as a Fine Bird Book and a work of Ornithology. It is still high on each list").

An attractive copy, in its early-19th century British binding by Staggemeier and Welcher. "Though, in a sense, two books, these are now considered as one and either must rank as imperfect without the other...At its date of issue, [it] was one of the most important of all Bird Books, both as a Fine Bird Book and a work of Ornithology. It is still high on each list" (Fine Bird Books).
