Eickhorn-Fertigung der höchsten Qualitätsstufe aus feuervergoldetem Buntmetall. Der Adlerknauf mit plastisch herausgearbeiteten und teils polierten Details, das Hakenkreuz separat aufgesetzt und mit 17 gefassten Brillanten besetzt. Innenseitig eingeschlagene Nummer "5". Die en suite ausgeführte Parierstange mit nummerngleicher Punze "5" an der Griffaufnahme. Der Elfenbeingriff mit spiralförmig umlaufendem vergoldeten Eichenlaubband. Stoßleder aus weißem Leder. Die Scheide mit beidseitig reliefiertem, unklarem Anker zwischen Eichenlaubdekor. Gesamtlänge des Dolches 42 cm. Die fehlende Originalklinge wurde durch eine neuzeitliche Klinge mit quartseitiger vergoldeter Inschrift "In Dankbarkeit und Treue - Die Kriegsmarine" ersetzt. Dazugehöriges Präsentationsetui aus marineblauem Leder mit goldgeprägtem Hoheitsadler auf dem Deckel und vergoldeten Schließen. Der dunkelblaue Einsatz mit zum Dolch passender Aussparung, im weißen Seidenfutter das goldgeprägte Eickhorn-Logo. Leicht bestoßen, der Deckel minimal verzogen. Maße 46 x 13 x 5 cm.
Der Ehrendolch der Kriegsmarine ist wohl eine seltensten und schönsten Auszeichnungen, die von den Oberbefehlshabern der Kriegsmarine, Großadmiral Raeder bzw. Dönitz, verliehen wurden. Unter den wenigen bekannten Verleihungen finden sich U-Bootskommandanten wie Topp, Kretschmer, Lüth, Suhren und Prien sowie Admirale wie Albrecht, von Nordeck, Carls und Saalwächter.

An honorary dagger of the Kriegsmarine, in its original presentation case
Eickhorn type, in the highest quality grade, made of fire-gilt, non-ferrous metal. The eagle pommel with fully sculptured, partially polished details, the swastika mounted separately and set with 17 diamonds. The number "5" struck on the inside. The en suite quillons with the identical number mark "5" on the slot for the handle. The ivory handle adorned with a spiraling band of gilt oak leaves. White thrusting leather. Both sides of the scabbard with a foul anchor in relief amidst oak leaf decoration. Overall length of the dagger 42 cm. The missing original blade has been replaced with a modern blade, bearing the gilt inscription (tr.) "In gratitude and allegiance - Die Kriegsmarine" on the reverse. Includes the matching presentation case of navy blue leather with a gold-embossed national eagle on the lid and gilt clasps. The dark blue insert with a slot to accommodate the dagger, the gold-embossed Eickhorn logo on the white silk lining. Minor knocks, the lid slightly warped. Dimensions 46 x 13 x 5 cm.
The honorary dagger of the Kriegsmarine is probably one of the rarest and most splendid decorations awarded by the supreme commanders of the Kriegsmarine, Grand Admirals Raeder and Dönitz. The dagger was known to have been awarded only a few times to U-boat captains such as Topp, Kretschmer, Lüth, Suhren and Prien, along with admirals such as Albrecht, von Nordeck, Carls and Saalwächter.
