China, late Qing Dynasty Bamboo. H. 13.8 cm. The brush pot is carved magpie standing on prunus tree in low relief, inscribed with verses ''There's nothing precious in Jiangnan, only a bunch of spring to present you. After Wang Wenzhi in Summer of the year Bingzi(1876?).'', signed ''Xiao Shan'' with seals. With traces of use and age, partially cracked. Provenance: From a North German private collection, purchased at the auction ''From The Scholar's Studio'' in June 2005, Nagel Auktionen, lot 252.

Der Pinselbecher ist in Flachrelief mit Elstern und einem Prunusbaum geschnitzt, beschriftet mit Versen ''In Jiangnan gibt es nichts Kostbares, nur einen Frühlingsstrauß, der dir präsentiert werden kann. Nach Wang Wenzhi, im Sommer des Jahres Bingzi(1876?).'', signiert ''Xiao Shan'' mit Siegeln. Part. gerissen, mit Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren.
