A THANGKA DEPICTING A GURU OF THE GELUG SCHOOL China (Tibet) Distemper on cloth. 89x60.5 cm. The thangka depicts a guru in young age, with a round face, a red pandita hat on his head, and both hands in dharmachakra mudra. He is dressed in multiple layers of voluminous robes, which also cover his feet. His throne back, as well as his robes and cushions, are covered in dense gold patterns. He sits on a wide throne, in front of that, there is an offering table, decorated with Ben-Pakistan-pot, a conch, and Ghanta etc. The main statue above the guru is Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug school, which shows the religious belonging of the thangka. The main figure is surrounded by more than 60 buddhas, bodhisattvas, hierarches, and dharmapalas. With traces of use and small wrinkles.

Das Thangka zeigt einen jungen Guru mit rundem Gesicht, einem roten Pandata-Hut auf dem Kopf und beiden Haenden in dharmachakra mudra. Er ist in einer mehrschichtigen voluminoesen Robe gekleidet, die auch seine Fuesse bedeckt. Sein Thronruecken sowie seine Robe und Kissen sind mit dichten Goldmustern bedeckt. Vor dem Thron steht ein Opfertisch, eingerichtet mit Ben-Pakistan-Topf, Schneckenhorn, Ghanta etc. Die Hauptstatue ueber dem Guru ist Tsongkhapa, der Gruender der Gelug-Schule, der auch die religioese Zugehoerigkeit des Thangkas zeigt. Um die Hauptfigur herum befinden sich mehr als 60 Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Hierarchen und Dharmapalas. Mit Gebrauchsspuren und kleinen Falten.
