A BRONZE "LION AND CHILONG" TRIPOD CENSER China, 17th century or later Bronze. H. ca. 31.5 cm. The censer is decorated with chilong-dragon and phoenix on the globular body, flanked by two chilong handles, with "Xuande" mark in seal script on the bottom. The cover is decorated with curly grass openwork surmounted by a lion finial. With traces of use, the lion's tail is missing, partially restored. verloren. Provenance: Acquired by the current owner from Christie's South Kensington London in 1991.

Der Brenner ist mit Chilong-Drachen und Phoenix an dem kugeligen Korpus verziert, flankiert von zwei Chilong-Henkeln. Am Boden befindet sich eine ''Xuande'' Marke in Siegelschrift. Der Deckel ist mit durchbrochenem, lockigem Gras verziert, das von einem Loewenknauf ueberragt wird. Part. rest., mit Gebrauchsspuren, der Loewenschwanz verloren. Provenienz: Erworben vom jetzigen Besitzer im Jahr 1991 bei Christie`s South Kensington London.
