Origin: Sino-Burmese or Sino-Siamese.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: Silver in repoussé with wire, a sphere of jade in the dragons mouth and eyes probably from ruby.
Description: The small teapot has an unusually long and elegant spout springing from a makara head. The
handle in the shape of a lively dragon also swinging out. The spherical body is decorated
with flower tendrils and two medallions: one with a scholar accompanied by deer beneath
trees, the second with an elephant and a monkey. The foot in the form of lotus, the
slightly domed lid with a double vajra and the knob in the form of a bud.
Measurement: 506g. H.13 cm, l.28.5cm.
