Elfenbein, plastisch geschnitzt. Aus mehreren Teilen zusammengesetzt. Antikisierender Dekor. Runder Fuß mit naturalistisch gearbeiteten gefallenen Kriegern, Amazonen und Pferden. Vollplastisch gearbeiteter Schaft in Form eines Mannes, der eine Frau ersticht. Hierbei handelt es sich um Achilles, der Penthesilea tötet. Die zylindrische Kuppa mit sehr detaillierter Darstellung der Amazonenschlacht. Der Steckdeckel ist entsprechend dem Fuß gestaltet. Knauf in Form eines vollplastischen Kriegers mit Hund, hierbei könnte es sich um Odysseus mit seinem Hund handeln. Kleine Fehlstellen: Schwert, Helmspitze. Deckel restauriert. Höhe 34,5 cm. Gutachten vorliegend.

Fully sculptured ivory. Composed of several pieces. Antique-style embellishment. The circular base with naturalistically modelled fallen warriors, Amazons and horses. The fully sculptured shaft in the shape of a man stabbing a woman. This represents Achilles slaying Penthesilea. The cylindrical bowl with extremely detailed scene from the battle of the Amazons. The press-in lid repeats the design of the base. The pommel in the shape of a fully sculptured warrior with a dog, possibly Odysseus with his dog. Minor defects on the sword, top of the helmet. The lid restored. Height 34.5 cm. Includes an expert report.
