In kräftigem Kolorit und breitem, ausdrucksstarkem Duktus gemaltes Stillleben, das den Einfluss Cézannes klar erkennen lässt. Der vor allem durch seine überzeugenden Porträts und Stillleben bekannte Maler van Hauth (eigentlich Gustaf Emil Hoffmann) studierte zunächst Malerei an der Kunstgewerbeschule in München und setzte sein Studium in Darmstadt fort. Mit seiner Frau Margarethe Schmidt ging er nach Berlin, wo er in der Gesellschaft bekannter Zeitgenossen wie Beckmann, Nolde, Gründgens und Grosz verkehrte. Während sein Frühwerk zwischen Expressionismus und Kubismus schwankt, wechselt sein Stil ab 1925 zur Neuen Sachlichkeit. Nach Studienaufenhalten in Paris 1926/27 steht sein Werk unter dem Einfluss Cézannes. Van Hauth war ein Verfechter der gegenständlichen Malerei, der er auch in seinem recht konservativ geprägtem Spätwerk treu blieb. Öl/Lwd.; R. u. sign. und dat. 1932/65. The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
